BallenIsles

BallenIsles is a 1,300-acre gated country club community in Palm Beach Gardens built around three 18-hole championship golf courses. The land was developed in the 1960s by John D. MacArthur in partnership with the PGA of America, operated for years as PGA National Golf Club and later as the private JDM Country Club, before being sold and reborn as BallenIsles in the late 1980s. Today the community holds approximately 1,570 homes across 32 named neighborhoods, ranging from single-family estates to coach homes and condos.

Golf

BallenIsles is built around three 18-hole championship courses, the East, North, and South, originally designed by Dick Wilson and Joe Lee in the early 1960s. As PGA National Golf Club, the East course hosted the 1971 PGA Championship, won by Jack Nicklaus, along with the 1971 World Cup of Golf. The East course was later renovated by Nicklaus Design, with work completed in 2023, and the South course has seen redesign work from Gene Bates Golf Design. A new Rees Jones-designed 10-hole short course and putting course, approved by the membership, is targeted to open in late 2026, adding a shorter, more casual golf option alongside the three championship layouts.

Membership

BallenIsles operates as an equity club with four membership tiers, effective under the club's current 2026 fee schedule. Full Golf membership carries a total initiation of $295,000 and annual dues of $31,522. Sports membership is $220,000 with $27,574 in annual dues. Racquets membership is $170,000 with $21,591 in annual dues, and Social membership is also $170,000 with $20,475 in annual dues. All tiers carry an 80% refund to seller upon resale. Membership is required of homeowners, and outside members are permitted for golf and tennis. The club is part of the Troon Golf Program, extending reciprocal privileges at other Troon-managed clubs.

Clubhouse & Amenities

BallenIsles completed a $19 million renovation of its Sports & Lifestyle Complex in November 2024, part of a 34-court racquet facility combining Har-Tru clay tennis and pickleball courts, along with a stadium tennis court that seats 500. The complex also includes four bocce courts, a pilates studio, physical therapy services, and a full-service spa and salon. The 115,000-square-foot Grand Clubhouse was renovated in 2018 and houses multiple dining venues.

Real Estate

BallenIsles holds approximately 1,570 homes across 32 named neighborhoods, built primarily between 1990 and 2005. Most of the community is single-family, ranging from roughly 1,700 to more than 9,500 square feet, alongside two dedicated condo and coach-home neighborhoods, Palm Bay Club and The Palms. Current pricing for single-family homes generally runs from the high $800,000s to $6.5 million, while condos range from the high $100,000s to just over $1 million.

Location & Schools

BallenIsles sits in Palm Beach Gardens with entrances on PGA Boulevard, Northlake Boulevard, and Military Trail, bordered on the west by Florida's Turnpike. The community is zoned to Timber Trace Elementary School and Watson B. Duncan Middle School in the Palm Beach County School District.
